Roll Containers has compiled a new
software system to be used for its
repair and maintenance service. The
new system uses barcodes to monitor
the individual repairs carried out
on each cage and builds up a
complete history for each cage. The
management information can then be
used for a multitude of purposes
including:
·
To identify common repairs which may result from poor work
practices.
·
To identify strengths and weaknesses of different types of cages
and cages from different
manufacturers.
·
Can be used to monitor the standard of our repair.
·
Can be used to cost repairs on an “actual work carried out” basis.
The system was successfully tested
for a trial period before Christmas
on the repair of Royal Mail
Stillages on a national basis.
Damaged units were delivered to our
central repair facility in Kettering
where they were scanned into the
system. As each stillage was
repaired, the operative scans his
name, ensuring accountability, and
each repair carried out against each
stillage.
The system also allows a real time
onsite status showing exactly what
is on site and whether its ready for
use. This service can be made
available on line with password
access via our website. |
